Holdout bulls are paid for their troubles, but…The DAX, in the first week of May, reached its highest valuation since the selling wave at the end of January. Indeed, the index gained only another 20 points, but for optimists looking for the DAX to recover from its tailspin since late February, it was nevertheless a victory. We reckon die-hard bulls made up about 40 percent of the Börse Frankfurt’s sentiment-panel since the middle of January. Medium-term market participants who showed staying power under the duress of March’s lows won’t now be thinking of selling when the DAX is trading just over 7,000.
